THE ROLLING STONES - THE ROLLING STONES TYPE SINGLE LP-MONO LABEL DECCA RED GROOVED GROOVED LABELS WITH UNBOXED LOGOS and MATRIX NUMBERS:XARL-6272-3A & XARL-6271-2A and stampers 1H/1G - with MONA credited on side 1 label & Bozier (Dozier) writing credit on CAN I GET A WITNESS. Side 2 label. CATALOGUE NUMBER LK 4605 YEAR 1964 COUNTRY OF RELEASE U.K. SLEEVE SINGLE - MacNEILL PRESS LAMINATED FLIPBACK. Misprinted "Can't I get a witness" against the Ian Stewart piano contributions on rear. INSERTS/EXTRAS NONE About this time every year I go along to my secret hideway, bit like Superman, and rip open a crate and pull out a selection (usually) a run of a groups albums. This year its The Rolling Stones and their 60's Decca releases. These arent my "ultimate upgraders" they are locked away and I'm pretty sure some grandchild or other will get their sticky mits on them one day, but nice clean original copies mostly in EX+ condition. GRADING/CONDITION DISC(s)EXCELLENT+ (NICE RECORD BLACK and VERY SHINY with VERY LIGHT playwear and LIGHT surface handling and storage marks, and ageing. PLAYS GREAT WITH A WONDERFUL UNCLUTTERED DECCA MONO REPRODUCTION.

SLEEVE Front board.Inner gatefold EXCLEAN SLEEVE with NO writing rips tears stickers or remains: Front laminate is clean and VERY SHINY with just a hint of rubbing wear and pressure marking a few small "thumbnail" type creases and laminate only crease in top right corner.
Rear Board EX REAR board is clean and unmarked with some lightish ageing an handling. Flipbacks EX Flipbacks are clean complete and stuck fast. Spine EX Spine is complete with complete writing, nicely sniped ends, and just a few laminate cracks Top & front edges EX Top & Bottom edges have LIGHT wear only. Opening EX Opening has light usage, and light wear Corners EX All corners have LIGHT wear only INNER /EXTRASN/A
DETAILSA fine debut, hinting at the powerhouse combo they would become in a few years. This was a time when the Stones were primarily a blues cover band, which they did a fine job of doing within the confines of a basic two-guitar, bass, and drums format. Jagger and Richards were not regular songwriters yet, but "Tell Me" is a fine tune showing a surprisingly vulnerable side. And their version of "I Just Want to Make Love to You" becomes a zippy, almost punkish number; other artists that covered this tune chose to emulate the faster pace of the Stones version instead of the slower blues of the Willie Dixon original.
