THE RUTS GRIN AND BEAR IT VINYL IMPORT ALBUM.brbrThe Ruts were formed in August 1977, and on the 16th of September they made their short live debut, playing just three songs during a break in a set by Mr Softy at The Target, a pub in Northolt, Middlesex.brbrFriends Fox and Owen shared a mutual interest in rock music, having first met at School in the early 1970s.brbrJennings met Ruffy in 1976 and became interested in punk after discussing the latter's Ramones' T-shirt of all things, meanwhile, Owen's interest in punk was piqued when he saw the Sex Pistols playing live and wanted in on the action.brbrThe Ruts gathered a loyal fan base very quickly seemed to get signed even more quickly and were performing on Top of the Pops before the ink was even dry on their contract, two massive hits for Virgin and they seemed unstoppable, then sadly the drugs took over and the wheels fell off.brbrBy 1980, singer Malcolm Owen was suffering with health problems, a combination of sore throats and an even bigger heroin addiction, despite having spent time living at his parents house, apparently free from heroin, Malcolm was found dead in the bathroom of their house in Hayes, from a heroin overdose on 14 July 1980 at the age of just 26 years old.brbrProphetically, the song "H-eyes", which was the B-side of their very first single "In a Rut", was a song against heroin use and the trap that a lot of users fall into.....for Malcolm, tragically it was simply a case of too much to soon.brbrMalcolm Owen - R.I.P.brbrHowever tragedy aside, musically The Ruts shone bright and recorded some amazing punk music, this classic album contains some fantastic tracks it's a 'REAL' punk album that really needs to be in any top punk collection, it's an album that captures the power and spirit of The Ruts in their late 70's heyday.brbrGreat quality import album, the sleeve is in excellent condition, vinyl is clean crisp and ready to enjoy, Original West German pressing that travelled to Italy before finally being imported to the UK - grab this while you can it's a real treat for any big Ruts fan / collector.brbrSee photos for full track listings / condition, you will receive what you see in the photo's.brbrCheck out my other punk listings all sold with no reserves, lots more punk rock goodies to find.
