TITLE: THE SCORE - ballad of hollis brown / I've been trying 7"
LABEL / CAT # : EMIDISC
COUNTRY / YEAR OF RELEASE: UK / circa 1964/65?
DESCRIPTION: Rare ACETATE of an unreleased 7" single from THE SCORE!
I can't confirm, but assume this could be the same mid-'60s group who recorded a highly sought-after FREAKBEAT version of the BEATLES' - 'please please me'. These demo versions include a raw cover of DYLAN's 'ballad of Hollis Brown'
(also later recorded by STOOGES, NAZARETH, BILLY CHILDISH etc.) Plus a mellow, soulful version of CURTIS MAYFIELD/IMPRESSIONS 'I've been trying' (similar in style to a version by FLEUR DE LYS?)
I don't think either of these songs were ever fully released,
as I couldn't find any further info or even a mention anywhere online!

CONDITION: Acetates are hard to grade, and can slowly deteriorate... Therfore this is graded about VG (few light surface marks & light scuffs.
Plays through fine but expect crackle. Possibly improved with a professional clean?)
