Description

What you have here is a rare and UNIQUE / ONE OFF MISPRESSING / PROMO of THE SMITHS from 1985. AN ORIGINAL PRESSING AND A MUST !!!
This must be one of the rarest SMITHS / MORRISSEY promo items out there, and IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN !!!
This version was rushed to radio by the promotion company and there for was an unfinished / WITHDRAWN PICTURE SLEEVE version, I have seen the picture sleeve alone listed for over £200.00 in other websites !!!.
As you can see from the pictures the single is missing the A side label, and the picture sleeve is also THE WITHDRAWN PICTURE SLEEVE VERSION with a few MAJOR DIFFERENCES (I have included a photo of the normal picture sleeve so that people can compare, that's photo number 6) :
1. THE SMITHS printed on the front is not in the usual dark blue colour, but more PURPLE, the photo makes it look slightly different.
2. THE PICTURE IS MUCH MORE BRIGHT YELLOW THEN THE FINISHED ONE !!!
3. a GREY STRIP at the bottom of the front sleeve, and a white strip on the bottom of the back sleeve, which was not on the finished version.
This is a VERY EARLY PRESSING that was rushed to radio station for airplay and as a result was not ffully finished !!!
This copy came from a radio person and you can also see the RADIO TIMING written in pen on the back of the picture sleeve 8/2.04/E meaning 8 seconds before vocals start 2.04 total duration and END rather then an F for a FADE (radio terminology), the single has been stored since the day it was received and only played a couple of times !!!
The single came out through ROUGH TRADE Records, and was given the catalogue number of RT 181.
The tracks are: SHAKESPEAR'S SISTER / WHAT SHE SAID.
As I said , this is the only way to get this ONE OFF UNIQUE SPECIAL MISPRESS PROMO VERSION and THIS UNIQUE UNFINISHED PICTURE SLEEVE, SO DON'T LET THIS PASS YOU BY!!!
The condition of the vinyl is VG++ (paper sleeve scuffs only), P/S is in VG++ condition (timing numbers written on back).
