THE VELVET UNDERGROUND S/T Self Titled MGM 2353022 UK Closet Mix 2nd pressing from 1971 featuring Lou Reed's infamous "closet mix" as opposed to the more common Val Valentin mix that is on most releases. This title was originally released in 1969. Non laminated cover with "MGM Select on spine.
VINYL in NEAR MINT condition, looks like it was never played. When I tested the LP, I had a hard time getting it on the spindle because it was evidently never put on a record player, fantastic condition and clear and perfect sound quality. This is an excellent version to hear the closet mix as U.S. copies are not only noisier vinyl but also way more expensive. The only mark on the vinyl is a minor surface blemish that is on the first track of both sides in the same position, possibly a handling or pressing issue. I test played the area and found no difference in sound quality.
COVER in VG with scratching on front cover on bottom left hand side, corner dings, a 3" split in the middle of top seam, top seam starting to come unglued but still holding record. There is rubbing on bottom seam but is solid and intact. Some minor creasing around the edge. Matte cover, not laminated like 1st UK issue.

Two mixes of this LP exist. MGM engineer Val Valentin completed a clean, bright, evenly balanced mix, but Lou Reed made an alternate (so called closet) mix. Whereas Valentin's mix was used for the earlier 1969 UK issue, Reed's mix was used here.
"Some Kinda Love" is actually a different take.
