Description
Occasionally, you come across a record which doesn't look perfect but plays beautifully without almost any imperfection. This is such a record - because it's so good, it's been really well played but it hasn't been abused. It's the first LP by The Who entitled My Generation and it is an original mono recording from 1965 on the UK Brunswick label (catalogue no. LAT 8616). It's a wonderful album and there isn't much else to say about the music except that it laid the foundation for what The Who achieved as one of the world's greatest rock bands.
OUTER SLEEVE - The sleeve is in fine condition. It's laminated on the front. There is some minor creasing on the front cover. In the top left hand corner of the front cover it states - 'mono LAT 8616'. There is hardly any wear on the edges. The spine is in great condition and the wording along the spine is 100% readable. The rear sleeve shows some minor discolouration but is in overall fine condition. It states in the top rear right hand corner - 'MONO LAT 8616'. It also states at the bottom of the rear sleeve - 'Laminated with Clarifoil made by British Celanese Limited - Printed in England by Robert Stace'. I've graded the sleeve as Ex considering it is 43 years old.
INNER SLEEVE - This is a plain white paper type, probably not the original.
RECORD - The record itself looks clean but there are some superficial marks on both sides which do not affect the quality of the recording. There is very minor surface noise and the very occasional pop and click. There are definitely no jumps on any of the tracks. The black labels with silver wording are in fine condition with a lot of spindle marks. The record has been very well played. There is no damage to the labels on either side. These labels feature the silver 'Brunswick' logo under which it states 'LONG PLAYING MICROGROOVE RECORD MADE IN ENGLAND BRUNSWICK LTD. LONDON'. On the right hand side of each label above the catalogue number the two matrix numbers (MG.10256 and MG. 10257) are printed upside down. The letters M/T are also printed above these matrix numbers. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are as follows - side one - MG-10256-1B (stampers 20 A) - side two -MG-10257-2B (stampers 1 C). I have graded the record as Ex and I believe that this is very fair. I try to grade everything as accurately and conservatively as possible. The winner of this auction will not be disappointed. All my items are 100% guaranteed and can be returned for a full refund if the buyer is not satisfied with the product.
