Brilliant Corners’ is now recognized as a landmark in jazz.

?According to Down Beat magazine, Brilliant Corners was the most critically acclaimed album of 1957. Nat Hentoff, the magazine's editor, gave it five stars in a contemporary review and called it "Riverside's most important modern jazz LP to date." Jazz writer David H Rosenthal later called it a "classic" Hard Bop session. Music critic Robert Christgau said that, along with his 1959 live album Misterioso, Brilliant Corners represents Monk's artistic peak. In his five-star review of the album, Allmusic's Lindsay Planer wrote that it "may well be considered the alpha and omega of post-World War II American jazz. No serious jazz collection should be without it."

Record  is in EX condition clean bright and shiny.

(Small less than one inch seam split) very middle bottom otherwise this laminated flipback sleeve is in VG condition


 GRADING SYSTEM
 

 

    Vinyl Cover Ex Excellent The record looks clean  with few signs of having been played, will be shiny,nice clean labels. only very minor signs of wear. The cover looks new or almost new, the only signs of age may be slight wear to the corners VG+ Very Good, almost Excellent A few more signs of having been played, with very few marks that are only just visible and not audible. The cover is still in generally excellent condition, shiny (where appropriate) with no folds or tears, but may have some minor scuffs to the spine VG Very Good There may be a few minor hairline scratches or minor scuffs that are visible but not too audible. Used but well cared for. Label can have some very small marks. A few imperfections, minor ring wear, but still looking smart. There may be signs of a sticker having been removed. G+ Good, almost Very Good Some signs wear particularly from extensive usage, surface scuffs with maybe a scratch on it. These flaws can be seen on examination and some may be audible.  However, the record has been looked after and such audible flaws as there are will not prevent enjoyment. A few minor creases and scuffs (particularly to the spine) has some minor creases, possibly minor ring wear, signs of sticker removal, but still looking pretty smart (if a bit older). G Good Record shows wear, possibly scuffs, some scratches from extensive usage.  These will be very visible to casual inspection and some likely to be audible on replay, but the record is listenable and potentially enjoyable. Some creasing or bends, marks due to the removal of stickers, may have a seam-split with taped repair, likely some ring wear, maybe some (but not much) writing on the cover.
