Vinyl: EX (The vinyl looks excellent and has retained its original high gloss sheen with just a few faint wispy in-out sleeve brushings when angled to light. The LP plays excellently throughout with a minimum of light surface static, and with very little deterioration in sound quality)
Sleeve: EX+ (The outer laminated gatefold sleeve is in superb condition with just a few very light laminate wrinkles near the spine. The non-laminated predominately white inside of the sleeve is near mint)
Labels: EX+ (Both labels are very clean with only a few very faint spindle traces)

Mine from new. On offer here is a rare original UK Harvest Records vinyl LP (A-1/B-1 Matrix No's, NO EMI logo on the labels & Gramophone Co Ltd rim text) of the debut album, entitled "Alchemy", by the legendary British avant garde progressive / psych / folk group THIRD EAR BAND. The album comes housed in its superb original outer laminated gatefold sleeve. Comes complete with Harvest Records poly-lined advertising inner bag. A really excellent original UK pressing of this seminal underground classic released in 1969 on the highly sought after and collectable Harvest label. Cat.No.SHVL 756. Stereo.
Third Ear Band remains unique in the history of progressive rock. This band reveals an eclectic, colourful, inspired musical "mantra", a multi influenced musical profile and consequently difficult to classify in a specific subgenre. "Alchemy" develops an achieved sense of multi-influences dialogue. Despite that Third Ear Band first started their career as a convnetional psychedelic prog-ish band, a large part of their discography (with this album included) is reserved to semi-acoustic improvisations, combining with talent medieval and eastern' raga harmonies into the formula a chamber music ensemble. The eight tracks here are all generally similar in structure. The whole album is exotic, with Glen Sweeney laying down a minimalist and erratic beat using hand drums, and the rest of the group offering up their various elaborations in what seems to be a fairly improvisational manner. Each track pulls the listener in and keeps their attention with a trance effect throughout the tracks. Each one is certainly entrancing and may seem at first hard to get into, but once you get into it you are hooked. The minimalism featured here is weaving blends of acoustics, which is even more unique...features a brief appearance by the late John Peel on jews harp ! Don't miss out !
