The reformation of Throbbing Gristle in 2004 came as something of a surprise. The release of this album in 2007 was greeted with some skepticism given their original body of work still had the ability to send shock waves through the decades that followed. How would they approach a new work given this legacy?
There was no need for concern. There were still uncharted territories to reveal. You can’t imagine anyone else delivering something like this.
The first 4000 copies came with one of four “totemic gifts” each made from one of 4 materials: Bone, Wood, Rubber & Copper. A fifth totem was made from Stainless Steel, but only available in the Japanese Edition. These were made under the personal supervision of the late Peter Christopherson in Thailand.
This copy includes a wooden totem.
