 LABEL / LABELCODE  MATRIX NUMBERS  EXTRAS  GRADING  Straight 1 C 062 92-094  92094 A1 & B1  Laminated Single Cover  EX/EX++ DESCRIPTION Starsailor had originally been recorded in 1970 on Frank Zappa's Straight/Bizarre label. At its centre lies the starkly brilliant 'Song To The Siren', best known in its wonderful incarnation by This Mortal Coil, whose watery evocation of the tragic tidal pull of the sirens chillingly prefigures the premature death by drowning of his son Jeff Buckley in Memphis's Mississippi River. Elsewhere Tim's inspired vocal heights are matched by his own 12-sring accompaniment; the extraordinary, sympathetically fractured guitar and elemental keyboards of Lee Underwood; the deathless imploding bass of John Balkin; the Miles-inspired wind instruments of Buzz and Bunk Gardner and Maury Baker's traps and tympani. At times light and celebratory, and at other times harrowing and deeply primal these are songs that find unique territory to stake out and claim. CONDITIONS RECORD: Visually both sides with only a few surface marks/scratches with little sheen, seen in critical 100W light! Has been played and must be therefor grade as EXCELLENT or better!! Both sides of this great album play with only some clicks and pops. The sound quality of this classic vintage pressing-thick, heavyweight press is still full!! LABELS: Both labels in NEAR MINT (M-) condition with no spindle marks. COVER: Laminated cover in pristine conditon!!! Rare in this condition! No tape. No splits. No writings, no stamps, no stickers. No edge and spine wear! No ring wear! Only tiny creases and a little browning on rear (a little more than the photo shows)!! This wonderful cover must be grade as EXCELLENT++!
