BOLD, FEARLESS, VISIONARY AND UNCOMPROMISSING, EVEN CONFRONTATIONAL: The essence of this quintessential Tim Buckley album can be summed up in only five words.

For those unlucky ones unfamiliar with Tim's music and his incredible voice: this is one of the most amazing pieces of music ever recorded, consisting of some of the most unapologetically uncompromising,  fanatic and radical (even extremist), dark, fiery, eruptive and profoundly spiritual poetic visions ever offered by ANY popular artist, in any field of artistic endeavor.  Where this man's voice has gone, no human voice has gone before (or after):  Starsailor must be heard to be believed.  A truly starsailing experience it is -- but beware: this album will NOT yield to you. It has a mind of its own. You have to come to it, accept it and let it enfold you,  love it for what it is, and it will love you back unto eternity. And, quite possibly, beyond.

The album was Tim Buckley's worst seller and is believed to have sold less than 10,000 copies in the United States. The abysmal commercial failure of this project caused Buckley to go into a 2-year self-imposed hiatus as a recording artist and even try his luck as a cab driver.  Original copies of this magnificent psych/acid album are INORDINATELY hard to find and the remaining copies are getting harder and harder to find with each passing day. Don't wait!!!

The album includes original version of "Song to a Siren", Buckley's paean to a sexual/spiritual union of a male and female.

For its extraordinary contribution to the modern music, superb production, craftsmanship, fine musicianship, revolutionary significance and influence it exerted on numerous generations of musicians, writers and general public, this album was voted one of top-100 albums of all time in one of the largest poll of critics, music reviewers, professionals and producers ever organized: the poll, which was conducted in 1987 by Paul Gambaccini, legendary BBC Radio A&R man, surveyed more than 50 top music professionals   (►click here  for the complete album listing)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                               THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2  (front side) and 4 (back side)

-        Back cover has some light yellowish stains, probably from exposure to humidity.

-        Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease)  in one of the corners.

-        Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging (nothing significant)

-        Minor discoloration (color fading) noted on the top seam, the spine and along the opening side   (nothing significant)

-        Minor shelf wear noted on the seams (nothing significant)

-        Cover has two corners slightly worn / dinged  (nothing significant)
