Item: This is one of the very first conscious efforts of combining jazz to the modal system of ragas in India! 1969! The jazz here is more of swing and early bop styles and just an incredible amalgam is attained between south Indian (Carnatic) classical and folk music with jazz.

The copy here is the truly impossible to find very original pressing and in amazingly clean condition! This LP was put out a year after "Raga Jazz" (Shankar Jaikishan's effort which we also offer this month), probably a bit under feelings of not to be outdone by the "northern Indian" musicians as north and south are quite apart musically and culturally... and it really is a big success! Carnatic music itself is very complex, especially the rhythmic aspect and it should have been very hard for these guys to come to this result but it truly is amazing. I could not choose where to take samples from to be represtative about the record and I may have failed; you REALLY have to sit it through to enjoy fully!.. and an incredibly clean copy we have here, it truly is your big opportunity if you want to get this one!
