For auction the 1964 debut 45 from TOM JONES: Chills & Fever b/w Breathless UK Decca F11966. First Pressing
An extremely rare record to come by as an original copy today and almost impossible in this condition. This copy appears to have been UNPLAYED since it came from the factory 55 years ago.
It is Tom in his original carnation as a gutsy soul singer and is brilliantly backed by the finest Decca session players in blistering form. "Its Not Unusual' may have become his signature breakthrough the breakthrough hit but this is by far the ballsier and funkier noise of the true Tom Jones at the time. It's all call and response singers, wild guitar fills, punchy brass and crazed organ sizzling behind. All this with the young Tom literally screaming as it builds to a peak. This groove snarls and sweats!
The vinyl is bright and shiny, no marks scratches or scuffs or hairlines. The labels are deepest Decca blue and silver and even the original birth bag is crisp and unfaded, as new. A true British pop history landmark. Surely not a better copy out there.
