For sale: Trúbrot – Mandala (1972)

This is an original copy, issued in 1972 on a private label with calalogue number TR 1.

The album is housed in an odd gatefold cover with the record inserted in the left panel and a round hole from which the label can be seen.

This was Trúbrot's last LP and it almost always turns up trashed.

Musically this is prog/psych.

The lyrics are all in English and are written on the inside of the gatefold cover.

About Trúbrot:

History

The band was formed in 1969 as an Icelandic supergroup composed of members of the bands Hljómar and Flowers. Their eponymous first album was released that same year, a collection of orchestral and organ-backed pop songs which included a cover of The Beatles's "Things We Said Today" and a five-minute mini-opera "Elskaðu Náungan", which was based on Richard Wagner's Tannhäuser.

While the first album is entirely in Icelandic, later albums featured more English singing. 1971's Lifun came in a hexagonal cover.

Several members of this band would become part of the group Náttúra, who released one album in 1972. Trúbrot itself broke up in 1973.
