Another from my personal collection, and very rarely seen the earliest and 1st ever album to be released in the UK by T Rex!!! If seen are normally the strero version which are more common but this MONO is very scarce indeed and highly collectable like this!!! In my opinion the mono version is the only way to hear this album! AS IT WAS INTENDED!!!!

My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows is the debut album by British rock band Tyrannosaurus Rex (later known as T. Rex), released in 1968. The record features Marc Bolan on vocals and guitars, and Steve Peregrin Took on backing vocals, drums, pixiephone, and percussion. It also features DJ John Peel, who reads a Bolan-penned fairytale for the album's closing track, "Frowning Atahuallpa," which includes what must be one of the earliest "Hare Krishna" chants on a British pop record!!!!!!!!.

The album's music is much influenced by Tyrannosaurus Rex's psychedelic contemporaries, and marks, for Bolan, a rejection of the electric guitar–led freakbeat music he'd been playing with his previous band, John's Children!!!!!!!!.

The Vinyl

This is the original heavy thick and chunky type of vinyl with deep grooves!!!(only found on these early pressings!!!!) The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and initiall inspection still retains its original super glossy apearance!!!!! Looking at the vinyl under strong light there are very fine surface marks\scratches I can't see any major or deep scratches!!! I have played this through track for track as usual at very loud volume! The audio is awesome!! Cristal clear and vibrant all of the way through with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed at all!!!!! Very Very rare for a T Rex vinyl that is an incredible 39 years old!!! Please note! because I could see very fine suface marks I was listening out for any problems , but I heard no major problems during the audio what so ever !!! I was quite amazed!!!! Only in between tracks could I hear some static crackle which is quite acceptable indeed!!,, and right at the beginning of the 1st track on side 1. ,intro i could count 4 to 5 light ticks but i never heard any thing else worth to mention at all!!! The audio is superbe!!!.   THIS AUDIO IS AWESOME FOR AN ORIGINAL MONO RECORDING SO RARE TO FIND LIKE THIS INDEED!!!!!! LOVELY RICH AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!!! The only thing that I can say is to allow fror very light static crackle in between tracks and perhapes in some very quiet places but i never heard any major problems atr all!!!!! very very playable with (no) loud clicks ,pops, and certainlty (no) jumps or skips!!!!! i would class myself as highly critical Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!!

Please note! I always make this disclaimer!! i have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality as i hear it! ,, after playing the album on a top system at very loud volume! Although I never heard any major problems other than previously described,,,, Please allow for the odd static tickscrackle here and there (not consistant throughout the audio!!!! Please remember that this is a genuine 39 year old vinyl,, that would have originally  been played on a 39 year old system!!!!

Points to note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! ,, and this would benefit from a constant clean before each play! From my personal experiance a build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes light static crackle and constant cleaning subsequently reduces this and greatly enhances the audio quality!!!!  

The labels

Regal Zonophone labels (only 1st press) features the K.T tax code on side 1. (only 1st press) features ''sold in the uk.......'' across the labels (only 1st press ) made in Gt Britain is featured (UK presing)!!!  spider marks can be seen angled to the light but in my opinion these  show together with the awesom audio that this has not been overplayed at all !! little if no spindle ware !! The hole is perfectly round!!!!!!

The cover

This is the original GARROD AND LOFTHOUSE PRINTED laminated front , and flip back rear 1st press cover!!!! In truly awesome condition for 39 years old!!!!! firstly this is strong and straight the laminate is glossy shows very minimal creases to the front only and very light markings hardly noticable unless you look for them! (no) splits or tares at all in fact in generall very very light storageware to talk of INCREDIBLE!! The spine is awesome square and straight the writing very clear!!!! The rear is exceptionally clean (often seen very grubby indeed) no nasty names or writing on this cover!!! a really great example!!!!!!!!
