Description
Ten V-DISC 12-Inch 78's -- Rare WWII Memorabilia. These records were issued to entertain troops during and immediately after WWII. Shipped with USPS Media Mail. These records are ungraded, but they seem to be in great condition for the age, with some occasional light scuffs. Eight are in the original sleeves, and two are not.Here are the numbers included:
519a Woody Herman, 519b Benny Goodman, 523a George Paxton and his orchestra, 523b Randy Brooks and his orchestra, 526a Mills Brothers, 526b The Andrew Sinsters, 547a CBS Symphony Orchestra, 547b Jascha Helfetz, 552a Woody Herman, 552b Count Basie and his Orchestra, 554a Louis Prima and his orchestra, 554b Bob Crosby and his V-Disc Bob-Cats, 555a Gene Krupa and his orchestra, 555b Connee Boswell and he V-Disc Music Men, 557a Bing Crosby, 557b Sgt. Sy Oliver and his V-Disc Volunteers 559a Henry Wells, Trumway Young and the Guys From V-Disc, 559b Evelyn Knight, 573a Sam Donahue and the Navy Dance Band, 573b Stan Kenton.
This V-Disc series ran from 1941-1949. Some of them are heavy like the old 78's, and some are light and flexible like LP's.
These records belonged to my father, the late Donald W. Truesdell, who served in the Army in Saipan during WWII. I am looking for a good home for them.
