ARTIST AND ISSUE DETAILS: This is an original 1941 Columbia 12" diameter Safety Master Acetate of 'Harvard Blues' and 'Coming Out Party' by Count Basie and His Orchestra, recorded 17th November 1941. By this date the major record companies were simultaneously cutting safety masters in the event of problems with the wax master and this acetate carries the matrix numbers NG768-1 and NG769-1, which correspond with the issued OKeh masters. Sound quality is fantastic - being direct cut onto aluminium-base acetate and being in EE+ condition this is a direct cut of the performances NOT a pressed recording! A very scarce and desirable artefact with great music, including Jimmy Rushing vocals and Buddy Tate on tenor. The record comes in its original Columbia Recording Corporation sleeve!
