Description
An original 1st mono press of CG on Deram from Q1 1970. Matrix 1A/1A. Stampers 1-K/1-I - placing this copy amongst the first few thousand copies ever produced. Please note that this LP was released in April 1970 - practically at exactly the same time that the mono format was canned. Consequently, the only mono copies that can be found are the 1st presses from March '70! The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original soft-card Garrod & Lofthouse cover. Also included is the original red mono Decca inner sleeve date coded to 02-70..February 1970.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are mostly silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. This album is sweeet..and it totally rocks out..! By and large a clean player and most certainly an impressive rendition. Interference is both minor and infrequent. The only interference we can make out is the odd crackle in track1 and then perhaps just a couple in track 1 (S2). None of which are invasive or persistent. For the most part a barnstorming rendition with very little to complain at.
Cover (Ex) These CG covers are soft-card construction which ultimately means that after approaching 50 years of age most are looking somewhat worse for wear. This copy has clearly been very carefully looked after. Lovely clean front and back without creasing or the wear you usually find with this title. Very slight mark top-right corner - almost looks like it's part of the image so not noticeable at all. The interior is pretty much spot on - no issues. Edge wear, as mentioned above, is unusually light. There's just a touch on the spine - but you'd have to really look hard to find another copy that even equals this standard. All the text on the spine is still more or less legible. Overall the cover still retains its original rigidity. Nice specimen!
