A unique double album in a gatefold sleeve --- two Beach Boys classics: "Carl and the Passions - So Tough" and "Pet Sounds" --- on Brother/Reprise Records. These two albums were bundled and old as one package in 1972.
Carl and the Passions represents some of the best of the Beach Boys' more modern, more psychedelic history, with songs like "Marcella", "Hold On Dear Brother", "You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone", "Make It Good", and "Cuddle Up". Production credit is given to the band itself and not Brian Wilson. It's VERY different from the Beach Boys which we normally think about, but it's all good stuff. No hits to speak of, but some very fine and interesting music. This disc of the set has some smudges and finger oil marks, but it's perfectly acceptable and will benefit from a nice cleaning. No scratches that I know of. This side of the gatefold sleeve is slightly worn and has a faint disc ring, but I'll still just call it VG to VG+. The Pet Sounds side of the gatefold is nicer and has less wear for some reason.
The other album in this set is the groundbreaking 1966 legendary "Pet Sounds". The hits are on this record: "Sloop John B", "Caroline No", "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times", and "God Only Knows". This one WAS produced by Brian Wilson, and it is exquisite, even though it is MONO --- yes, it is in MONO as Brian Wilson intended it to be.
The disc is in EX condition and the sleeve "half" that contains it is in NM condition.
