Description
Up for sale at a very low start price is an original 1966 copy of Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys. EMI / Capitol T2458 Mono.
Sleeve - As is usually the case with these original flip-back sleeves, the unlaminated rear panel can get a bit grubby but overall, its a very solid and complete flip-back sleeve with a glossy laminated front panel showing a few creases. The spine is good and readable. Structurally very solid and cosmetically presentable.
The inner sleeve - This has been replaced.
Labels - Showing spindle wear, but clean and free from damage, labels, biro etc, These are the original release Capital rainbow rimed labels.
Vinyl - This record plays really well. No skips or nasty pops and clicks (it will has 5-6 light clicks right at the beginning of God only Knows, nothing too bad) other than that, just the usual light crackle in the quiet parts and between tracks. It has the usual age related hairline scuffs. Nothing deep, nothing feelable.

However, It does have fogging to the vinyl on side 1 only. I tried to photograph this but my camera wouldn't pick it up, From experience, this is due to it spending a long time in storage, the a polythene lined inner sleeve, as was commonly used around the mid 60's to Mid; 70's. The carrier oils in the poly migrate to the vinyl on the side of the record facing the laminated front panel, as this stops the inner poly from breathing and creates a barrier. This imperfection does not effect the sound quality, its a cosmetic issue only.
Lastly, there is a small chip to the vinyl edge, only visible from side 1. Its small and before the run in grove, so isn't a problem.
All-in all a good everyday player. Some people want big money for first editions of this, but as it has some cosmetic imperfections, I'm starting at a sensible £5.00.
