Description

For auction is a 1st  Original UK Press The Beatles single "Love Me Do b/w P.S. I Love You "on the Parlophone Label catalogue No 45-R 4949

This single was recorded on the 4th September 1962 (15 takes) Ringo on drums.

Released 5th October 1962 , entered the Charts 11th October 1962 , 18 weeks in the charts highest position 17 ( The 1st official EMI Release for The Beatles)

The matrix numbers stamped on the vinyl are 7XCE 17144-1N / 7XCE 17145-1N

Also stamped on the run out of the record are the letters “ZT” These letters refer to the purchase tax nowadays in England it is called VAT.

ZT  appeared on Parlophone records on the 10th April 1962 and changed to “PT” on the 26th November 1962. As this particular single was released on the 5th October 1962 it was without doubt pressed sometime between the 4th September 1962 (date single recorded) and the 26th November 1962.(date purchase tax letters changed)

I can further provenance the record as it was bought personally by my mother in 1962 from “NEMS” record shop Whitechapel  Liverpool which at that time was managed by Brian Epstein (Manager of the Beatles)

I would grade the record as follows

Good (Condition of record looks scratched but plays well enough to enjoy the song)

Should the buyer be unsatisfied in any way a full refund is available.

A must for any serious Beatles collector a real piece of music History
