An original 1st press of AR on the UK Apple label from 1969. Matrix 2/1 [1st cut]. Please note that the labels DO NOT mention 'Her Majesty' next to the track 'The End' - this is the main indicator of VERY 1st press. Well worth seeking out these early copies they sound fab and were pressed that bit heavier too. The vinyl comes house in an original thin spine cover with laminated waxy surfaces. We also have an original Apple inner sleeve from around this time too.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In great condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are few light marks per side, a couple of superficial trails too - but nothing thankfully heavy or troublesome. There's also some bag-rash markings in places too. So, the surfaces aren't super attractive - they are merely 'ok'. What is good, however, is the audio - so if you can get over some minor cosmetic issue...it will be to your great advantage! A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of slight deviations per side. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. The audio on these early copies is legendary and it is still very much evident on this example too. Highly addictive! The question with AR is can you find a copy that has seen sufficiently light use that those lowkey super fussy sections play clean. And I'm pleased to report that this is one of the better examples out there - despite not having pristine surfaces. A good clean player for the most part and playing clean into a lot of those fussy moments on side 2. A few minor static crackles on the intro to YNGMY - that's all really. There were also a couple of minor ticks in a couple of spots each side. Nothing vaguely worrisome I'm just making sure that the buyer is fully in the picture. Overall I'd argue a very appealing rendition with little negative to contend with. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex) Very tidy looking with excellent colour retention and little sign of wear. A couple of thumbnails on the front and one crease - that's all really. The rear is looking superb. Hardly any edge wear and sharp firm openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) A two inch bottom edge split [tape repaired]. Light ageing.
