Description
Released in the UK in the winter of 1964, 'Beatles For Sale' was The Beatles 4th studio album and contained some of the group's most promising material to date. Despite a gruelling tour schedule, making their 1st feature film, and travelling around the world to promote their music, they found time to write "I'm a Loser", "Eight Days A Week", and "I'll Follow The Sun" .... just some of the brilliant songs found on this album.
The copy offered here is among the VERY 1st UK pressings released in December of 1964. It is in Mono (as most pressings were at this time). The sound is perfectly balanced, clear, detailed, and distortion-free. Most UK 1st pressings offered for sale usually have a 4N/3N matrix configuration or even the later 4N/4N. However, the copy offered here have the earliest: 3N/3N .....these are becoming MUCH harder to find; especially in decent playing condition. A truly beautiful example of a classic Beatles album.
Gatefold Jacket: Excellent.....truly in remarkable condition. Lamination shines beautifully to the front and back....tapered spine is solid, showing very minor wear; the inner gatefold is equally impressive and rarely found in this kind of clean condition.
Original Inner-Sleeve: Very Good + ......mostly age-related wear and discoloration is visible to both sides. No splits or significant tears were noted. A clean, audiophile inner will be provided to house the precious record.
Record: Excellent(-) ~ Near Mint(-) .....the heavyweight vinyl has lost little of its original lustre....a few hairlines can be seen under strong light but have virtually no effect on the wonderful, detailed, bold Mono sound. Only 2 or 3 songs have "a touch" of surface noise....but certainly nothing even close to unbearable. Both labels are clean without writing, paper loss, or stains. K T tax code is visible on Side 1 label. It will be very hard (and costly!) to find a cleaner true 1st UK pressing of this record.
