Original very early Stereo issue Version 2 copy of The Beatles “Introducing the Beatles” released in October, 1964. The cover of this copy is the rarest and most collectable one of all of the Version 2 Stereo covers. When the pressing plants ran out of the Stereo Version 2 covers with a white border and a grey “Stereophonic” banner at the top, Vee-Jay Records resolved the problem by using the Mono covers which they started affixing the Stereo stickers to. One more quick solution became the offer of one of the printing companies to machine stamp an embossed “Stereophonic” banner. It’s hard to say how many of these covers were made but they come across extremely rarely. The cardboard cover of this copy, just like the other rare covers of this issue, not only contains a black embossed machine stamped “Stereophonic” banner above the orange “THE BEATLES” title but also the embossed “SR 1062” catalog number. The back cover contains the very rare “2” factory identifier in the bottom right-hand corner. Original Vee-Jay VJLP 1062 / 63-3402 catalog number deep groove 2.75' diameter pressing ring silver print brackets Vee-Jay logo very rare variation label. Centered song titles and credits, including the "Coffin-King" misprint, as oppose to the correct spelling "Goffin-King", along with "Microgroove" and "Long Playing" banners. One of the rarest label variations with the silver "Stereo" print located at 12 o'clock. The full matrix numbers are as follows Side 1: S 63-3402-1 URJ A1 1-24-64 ARP AudioMatrix / S 63-3403-1 URJ A1 1-24-64 ARP AudioMatrix. The trail-off vinyl includes the "S" suffix before the matrix numbers, referring to the Stereo format of this copy. The matrix numbers also contain the "AudioMatrix" stamp, the identifier of Audiomatrix Inc., New York, a handwritten manufacture date stamp "1-24-64" on both sides in the trail-off vinyl, a URJ" stamp in the dead wax, identifying this pressing as a Universal Recording Studios mastering, in addition to the “ARP” stamp referring to American Record Pressing Co. The cover comes with an original white background Vee-Jay Records “OTHER FINE ALBUMS OF SIGNIFICANT INTEREST ON VEE-JAY RECORDS” inner sleeve.

I grade this incredibly rare cover as strong Very Good Plus. It's very clean and doesn't contain any writing or splits. It has some light scuffing and creasing on the corners. The front cover has some light creases in the upper left-hand corner along with the top edge. Some very light shelf wear on the front and back. The spine has a fully readable text. The front and back cover doesn't have ring wear, perhaps just only some light hints of it in a few small spots along with some light age spots. The vinyl is somewhere between strong Very Good and Very Good Plus visually. It retains its factory gloss but has some light hairlines along with scuffs from the inner sleeve. The vinyl plays great overall, somewhere between Very Good Plus and Excellent Minus, having some light background noise, which becomes more evident during the quiet passages and in between the songs, but is barely audible during the songs, and perhaps will get reduced or go away if the record is professionally cleaned with a VPI cleaning machine. The clean labels are in Very Good Plus condition having some light scuffing and spindle marks. The rare original Vee-Jay inner sleeve is in Excellent Minus condition. It doesn't contain any writing or edge splits having some light staining in one of the corners.
