The Beatles Please Please Me Black & Gold 1st Press, Mono 1963 Stamps 1-P & 1-L

This is the very first UK issue, available for just a few weeks and identifiable by: - Black labels with gold print. Later pressings from mid-1963 onwards had black labels with yellow print and a revised label design. - "Dick James Mus. Co." publishing credit on tracks A1, A2, B4 & B6. Subsequent issues credit Northern Songs instead. - The "Photo: Angus McBean" credit on front cover was printed at the extreme bottom-right corner, starting where the 's' of "songs" end (see images). On later sleeves, this credit is printed approximately 1cm further to the left, aligned with the 'g' in "songs".

The first pressing has Ernest J.Day & Co. front laminated cover, with large “mono“� on front. The photo credit for the front cover: “Photo Angus McBean” is printed in the lower right corner. The text starts at the end of �s� in �songs�..
PPM 1st mono sleeve
First pressing. March 22, 1963. The first pressing has black label with gold print and “Parlophone Co. Ltd”� printed at the start perimeter print. “Dick James Mus. Co” uncorrect publishing credit for “I Saw Her Standing There”, “Misery”, “Do You Want To Know A Secret” & “There’s A Place”. With or without tax code and with 33 1/3 on the label. Tax code variations: ZT, MT, ZMT. Polythene-lined “Use Emitex”� die-cut inner sleeve.
This copy matches all the above criteria - even though this shows wear and tear a G+/VG grading often sells for in excess of £400 on DC, and the average selling price is currently £787 overall!
ABOUT THIS COPY:
Sleeve is intact but stained front and back and has the amount of handling wear and creasing you would expect - see photos
The original 'Use Emitex' inner sleeve is in nice order, discoloured , but very nice to have.
The labels have many small scratches and muich wear and tear, it has obviously been very 'enjoyed' in its time... ...so to the vinyl itself; although flat with no warp, it has many splodges, scrapes and surface scratches...
So visually not perfect, however, there is very little impact on playback and it still plays through well. There is crackle and pop, but no jumps - showing that these old vinyls are so robust!
I gave it a manual clean and it played even better - side one probably a bit better than side two. I was amazed how it sounded...
