Description

An original 4th press of PPM on the UK Parlophone label from 1963. Matrix 1N/1N - as per 1st cut. Please note the labels make no reference to 'Sold In The UK..' statement and this helps to date this early pressing to around summertime 1963. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Ernest J Day cover. Also included is the original Emitex inner sleeve. So 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-) In very nice condition and has only seen light to medium use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks per side, and  a couple of superficial trails on one side. There's nothing heavy, or troublesome - that will feature in the audio...these early copies are pressed very heavy. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback. Not really much to complain at, here. Some lovely bold mono pumped out from this seriously heavy early copy. It's got detail, and energy, and warmth - overall a great delivery. We did notice a few light crackles in a couple of isolated passages per side. But nothing remotely invasive, or even anything that actually spoils playback at all really. Just don't expect it to be perfectly quiet in all areas. From '63 this a well preserved and impressive copy.
Cover (Ex) Very rarely do these '63 covers surface looking quite this clean and unaged.  A very impressive front which is both clean and unaged with barely a crease exhibiting. The rear looks mighty impressive too and is almost totally devoid of ageing - just one or two faintest traces. All flipbacks are in excellent order and secure. Edge wear is very limited for a '63 copy - don't think I've seen many this smart. The spine is 100% intact. I have to mention overall that this cover has retained incredible rigidity. They were obviously made from heavy card, but don't think I've seen an original PPM with such a solid cover. Very nice indeed.
Inner (Ex-) Light ageing and no splits.
