 This is one for ultra/uber collectors!!

 Very very rare Decca contract pressing of Please Please Me from 1963. While With The Beatles Decca pressings are rare enough PPM's almost never come along. As a result of Beatlemania in the summer of 63 in the UK, With The Beatles was flying off the shelves and took PPM along for the ride. Decca was used as a pressing plant to keep up with the unprecedented demand

 Attributes of a Decca pressing:

1. There is no tax code around the center hole on either side of the disc.

2. There’s a light ridge that runs around approximately 5mm out from the center hole. This ridge is also 41mm in from the edge of the label.

3. The most prominent groove, which is a typical characteristic of Decca LP presses is approximately 31mm out from the center hole and 15mm in from the edge of the label.

4. There is no tax code stamped at the 12 o’clock position.

5. The mother plate number (either single or double figured) is at the 9 o’clock position. There is no tax code stamped above it.

6. The contract pressings did NOT utilize the BUCKINGHAM stamper codes, so there are no such letters at the 3 o’clock position.

7. The matrix number is stamped at the 6 o’clock position in the deadwax.

Matrix numbers: Side 1: XEX              421-1N; Side 2: XEX 422-1N.

Get it while you can - these almost never come along and are almost exclusively from the UK - so the expensive UK shipping is not an issue here!

 

All albums are visually graded unless otherwise stated. My grading scale is as follows:

 Mint = sealed copy

Near Mint = Opened copy, but visually/playback flawless

Excellent = May have a few light paper scuffs, but still plays super quiet with minimal, if any, static

Very Good ++ = Some paper scuffing, and some static, usually in quiet parts

Very Good + = Some paper scuffing and some static in quiet parts and occasionally during the music. Still worth owning and hearing
