The Beatles Revolver Vinyl LP Mono Original First

You are  bidding on a 12" Vinyl LP copy of The Beatles' classic album "Revolver".

Firstly, if you are looking for a "mint" copy this will not be the album for you. Full condition details are below. However I believe, having read other entries here on eBay that this is an original first pressing, so for collectors, it may be just what you are looking for. 

This is from  my own personal collection. It’s time to makesome  space so sadly I am selling  my vinyl  collection. Please check out my other   itemsfor sale.

I am not a record dealer and I am not an expert at grading records. I will give as much information as possible to assist in identifying particular albums and an honest opinion as to condition.

For the vinyl collectors looking in,  the following information is available:

Label: Parlophone. Black with Yellow writing. (See photo). Silver"ish" writing for track lists etc. I note others are interested in this on eBay. It does read "DR. ROBERT" (Not Doctor) on label and cover. It also says SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE......" (apparently that is quite important to collectors). It also says Made in Gt. Britain.

Year: 1966

Catalogue No: PMC 7009. Above the 1966 date on label it reads XEX 605 on side 1 and XEX 606 on side 2.

Additional  Matrix number information: Side 1 - XEX 605-2  and on Side 2 - XEX 606-1

Condition:

Record: I don't have a camera that can get in close to show you. However, there are quite a few scratch marks and scuff marks on both sides. Some are hairline, but some look a bit worse than hairline. However - I have had the album played and surprisingly it is not as bad as it looks. It DOES NOT jump, skip or get stuck anywhere. There are a few pops and crackles (it is 47 years old!!!). The two most notable ones I heard, were in She Said She Said where there are two quite loud scratch noises and in the gap just before the track, For No One, there are two quite loud scratch sounds, a split second before the first note of the song is played. Otherwise considering how it looks, I thought it played pretty well. A proper clean of it, may even improve it further.

Cover: Not perfect by any means. Front is quite clean - a bit of age discolouration but no serious marks. It has been creased (bottom left) at some stage, but lays quite flat now. It seems there is a shiny film over the cover, which has just lifted (not torn) in a couple of places. Back is pretty good, a little bit grubby around the white edges, the customary ring mark where the album has sat inside. The all important "DR. ROBERT" on the track list. Again, checking on eBay, collectors seem to call this a "flip back" cover - not a phrase I've come across before. This one is shown as printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd (bottom right). It has the £ sign for The Gramophone Co. Ltd, and a circle on the right which reads "Use NEW EMITEX RECORD CLEANER......" and a whole load of other text about it. The edges are a bit worn. The fold up bit (back left bottom - near opening) has a 1cm tear. It could be stuck down, but I would leave that to the new owner to do to their satisfaction. Not much shelf wear to top or bottom. Spine is intact and (a little age discoloured) one can still clearly read Revolver-The Beatles.  

Inner sleeve: I guess it's the original one. It is white paper - again discoloured through age. There is a polythene lining inside. Someone has pushed a small hole through the centre of polythene. It looks a bit grubby and has a tear or two near the centre whole. One of the side seams has a split. A few other minor tears and creases. 

If I have left any details out which you require - again, please do ask. 

How do you grade something like this? Compared with how others grade LP’s on eBay I would  say, bearing in mind its age, it is somewhere around good, to VGC. I have seen LP's on eBay described as Exc+ that I wouldn't say were even VGC so who knows. I have just given as much detail as possible, so hopefully you can make your own mind up.

Describing  the condition of items is very subjective.(one man’s treasure is another man’s junk etc). I will always try to be as  honest as possible in describing the  items. I  would rather be honest from the outset, than  end up with a  disappointed winning  bidder. I buy  things on eBay as well and would expect the  same honesty from others.

I understand “standard” first  class mail is insured for  items up to a  value of £20.00. Depending on final bidding price, I may take the decision to post via a "signed for" delivery.
