Description
Here we have the historic "Loud Cut" version of Rubber Soul. I have listened to this on a top end Pro-Ject turntable with Ortofon 2M Bronze and a double Y cable to get the best feel for this mono record. My Gradings are based on the Record Collector Magazine Gradings. This record plays at least VG and sometimes Ex. There is a little bit of crackle throughout that is generally obscured by the music. What we don't have are skips or nasty pops. It's an entertaining listen and of course a unique mix. It is clear there is plenty of play life in this one. Visually, I find the record a little disappointing. Certainly VG but with some obvious hairlines and minor scuffs when held into the light. There is a small whitish mark at the start of side one which doesn't affect the sound. The cover is VG with some minor creasing to the laminated front and some yellowing to the back cover, which can be seen in the photo. The flip backs are generally good except at the bottom right hand corner where a little glue could be used to just tidy it slightly. The inner bag is VG, showing signs of aging. Overall this is still a reasonable playing copy but with obvious signs of wear and tear. The matrix numbers are XEX 579-1 and XEX 580-1 confirming this to be the Loud Cut. I will be sorry to see this one go due to it's uniqueness.
