The Beatles ‘SGT PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND' Rare STEREO Original pressing*WITH EXPORTED GERMAN SLEEVE COMPLETE- VERY NICE EXAMPLE!*

Released on 1st june 1967, this has to be considered as being the Beatles true ground breaking album, and although perhaps not their first 'experimental' album having ventured out of the realms of 'normality' with ' Rubber Soul' and 'Revolver', this was an album that even today is considered truely apart from anything that had been done then and has ever been done since- it would be fair to say that it is an album which has become so iconic that it is a true emblem for the whole decade that it was released in- both mono and stereo formats were available and perhaps both are as important as each other in terms of the differences in mixes and overall feel of the album.

Ofcourse huge quantities of this album would have had to have been produced to forfill the huge demand, and ofcourse in certain instances that demand would become too high especially here in Britain where the popularity not only of the Beatles themselves but of this very album would be far too much to cope with in terms of production- EMI would turn to its factories in Germany for a readily availble stock of sleeves for export to here, made of a very similar construction to the UK Garrod and Lofthouse sleeves, fully laminated with flipbacks on the inside of the Gatefold sleeve- the main difference being the obvious 'EMI Odeon' double box logo which is present on the standard German issued sleeves, it should also be noted that this is not just a case of 'swapped' sleeves, I have overtime seen three copies of this album all with their original owners which had the exported sleeve- all of these were from London so perhaps this was where the majoritve of these exported sleeves were sold? Needless to say as you can see from the description and photos this stereo original is in fantastic condition and 100% complete, good luck if you decide to bid.

This fantastic German made 'EMI Odeon' laminated sleeve gatefold has clearly barely ever been moved as the structural condition is outstanding- very flat with no visable creasing to the laminate, the spine is superb with no damage and a perfectly legable title, the only minor error perhaps is just a touch of shelfwear to the top of the front panel (see photos) but otherwise this is a truely outstanding and very difficult to beat sleeve, the grading has been taken down slightly to an Excellent Plus- the only reason for it not being NM is the slight error already mentioned.

A fantastic clear and unworn spine!

The inside of the gatefold is as superb as the outside, immaculate and undamged, looking new with flipbacks immaculate firm and inplace, again no wrinkles in the lamination and the opening to both sides of the gatefold sleeve are crisp und not bashed.

For an album that is so notorious for being played to death and played to beyond what most lps can even begin to stand, this copy has faired extremely well over the past 42 years, infact has probably in my estimated been played no more than 10 - 12 times judging by spindle trails (and audio quality), despite there being a small nesting of spindle trails to both labels; there is no wear and the inner circle to the label does not look 'beaten' from overplay, the labels must be grading at a true Excellent, there are as you can see from the photos no names or stickers to the infamous yellow and black Parlophone labels, so overall this is certainly a fair and correct grading.

The disc- as the sleeve is and all other components to this copy is in fantastic condition also, in the varying different light sources that I have looked at this disc to reach my grading appears extremely clean and free of any even slightly offending marks/ scuffs- only under what I have found to be the most unforgiving light (these being a desk top light and intense artificial light) do some of the lightest and whispiest of bag removal paper lines become apparent, these ofcourse have no impact on the outstanding unworn audio, which boasts fantastic clarity and power, there are in certain imbetween areas very soft slow level surface noise however this ofcourse has absolutely no impact on this fantastic sounding and playing disc which I will grade as being excellent a very clean disc that is pretty much completely mark fee and only under the most intense light do some whispy surface paper lines become visable.

The red and white Psyche Fools inner again has faired extremely well, it does not bear any serious creasing and discolouration- although may have yellowed very slightly is not at all a major issue, the only slight fault being a barely noticeable small split to one of the sides, however this muct be stressed that it is not at all noticeable and can only be seen when looking for it, only because of this I will grade it Excellent Minus- this sleeve would certainly grade higher had this split not been present, and on first impression looks more like an EX+.
