Description

A 1st mono pressing of Sgt Pepper on the UK Parlophone label from 1967. Matrix 1/1. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono Garrod & Lofthouse cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original dark-green cut-outs. Sorry, no flame inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Ex+) Absolutely outstanding and has clearly seen only the lightest use. Under close inspection there are a couple of superficial marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. This is one of the cleanest playing copies of Pepper I've had the pleasure to play in quite some time. These 1st pressings really are in a league of their own - the only problem is finding a low-mileage well preserved copy. Those tricky tracks on side 2 will sort out an average copy from a stellar performer. And this copy delivers big time. Tracks 1 & 2 play as clean as anything I've heard. 'When I'm 64' is almost impossible to find quiet, but this copy manages it. I can't fault the audio, but for a couple of moments in 'A Day In The Life' - we're just picking up a couple of crackles in a couple of places - nothing major at all. This LP really is a work of art..
Cover (Ex) Again, someone's really looked after this copy. Lovely shiny front and back. There's some light handling wear, but nothing vaguely noticeable. The interior is immaculate. There's a bit of wear on the spine. Nothing chronic, but a few of the letters from the album name have worn off. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and is a fine early example of this album cover.
Cut-Outs (Ex+) Superb - no faults.
