Description
This is a rare example of a 1st press UK release of this record in near mint condition.
The cover is the original fully laminated, first issue, side opening, gatefold MONO sleeve in excellent condition. The cover is highly glossy and there is a strong spine the printed wording “Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band” clearly readable. (PMC 7072)
The 1st press yellow and black PARLOPHONE label, in the "All rights of the manufacturer" message around the edge of the label, starts with "The Gramophone Co. Ltd." This was removed in later versions. The label does have "Sold in the U.K." statement and is in excellent condition with only very minor wear around the spindle hole. The Matrix numbers are XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1.
The original vinyl is in very good condition but I have not played the record to hear it’s quality and there are only hairline scratches visible only under very strong light.
The inner sleeve is red and white and is in near mint condition and includes no tears and only a very feint outline of the record imprint.
There is an intact cardboard cut-out insert by Peter Blake and John Haworth, which is also in mint condition.
This is a rare first press record in near mint condition.
