In March 1964, Vee-Jay Records released a 45 RPM 7” EP which featured four songs from the “Introducing… The Beatles” album including “Misery / Taste of Honey / Ask Me Why / Anna”. Vee-Jay decided to call the EP “Souvenir of Their Visit to America” as The Beatles came to the US one month earlier and gave a performance at the Ed Sullivan Show. Up for an auction is the incredibly rare copy of this EP. Its labels are the rarest ones for this EP release. Original fully black labels with the “VEE JAY” block logo and the micro-print font titles, which is typical of the Monarch Los Angeles plant where this extremely rare copy was pressed at. In the runout groove of this issue you’ll find, the Monarch’s Delta “△” pressing identifier while the other identifier in the form of a “MR in a Circle” stamp is missing as many Monarch pressings made prior to the early 60s didn’t contain it. The issue comes with the original “Souvenir of Their Visit to America” thick cardboard picture sleeve with the portrait style drawings, VJ brackets logo, “The Beatles” banner and the titles of four tracks present on this EP “Misery / Taste of Honey / Ask Me Why / Anna”. The 1st Monarch plant Los Angeles pressing with the very early 1st matrix numbers and Delta △ numbers: Side 1 – 64-3915 URJ △51772; Side 2 – 64-3916 △51772x URJ.

The original cardboard picture sleeve remaining in the original protective baggy is in stunning Near Mint condition. The vinyl is graded somewhere between Strong Very Good Plus and Excellent Minus for the "Ask Me Why / Anna" Side and Strong Very Good Plus for the "Misery / Taste of Honey" Side. The vinyl has some very light non-feelable surface scuffs from the picture sleeve and few very light marks with almost all of them on the "Misery / Taste of Honey" side being located on the runout groove rather than the playback area itself. The vinyl plays great with a vivid sound.
