Description
PLEASE READ TEXT IN FULL. MAKE SURE YOU ARE FULLY AWARE.
An original 1st mono press of the WHITE ALBUM on UK Apple. Matrix 1/1/1/1. Please note labels are consistent with 1st press and all four labels hold the 'Sold In The UK..' statement. Please also note the very first 1st pressings also omit the 'Emi Recording' statement - on this pressing two have the statement and the other two omit the statement. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original top-loading Garrod & Lofthouse cover numbered "0046188" - not super low, but getting there. Also included are both original black inner sleeves, two of the four original thick-paper photos, and the lyric sheet/poster. So, 100% genuine and approx 95% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex/Ex-/Ex-) In great condition and has survived the years well without seeing excessive use. Do expect a few marks either side, nothing particularly heavy, but a couple do cause audible issues as detailed below. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Just to reiterate, again, this copy has not seen excessive use and as a result, for the most part, play back is actually very clean without the usual interference that is so often found. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Early copies of the white album were quality pressings and you can really hear it, here, in the audio. As already mentioned interference is both minor and infrequent. The only thing we need to be very clear about are the deviations mentioned above. In 'Revolution 1' - we are detecting two brief jumps which effectively eliminate the words 'doo' & 'you' from the audio 'Shooby doo whop' & 'well you know'. Then, right at the start of 'Yer Blues' there's a brief jump which renders the word 'Lonely' inaudible..'Yes, I'm lonely...I wanna die'. If you can live with these aberrations the remainder of the audio is very clean and highly impressive. This LP has been priced down taking into consideration these anomalies.
Cover (Ex) In fantastic condition and has almost entirely avoided the usual fading - just a touch at the extremities. Front and back are nice and clean with a crease in the bottom-left on the front and a light indentation on the rear. The interior is in excellent condition too with flipbacks nice and secure. Edge wear is relatively light and the spine is pretty much intact just showing a bit of ageing. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies totally flat. In reality this is about as good as you'll find without blowing the budget big-time.
2 x photos (Ex-) Couple of creases. But good contract quality photos.
Inners (Ex-) A few creases and one has a tiny 1c.m. side split.
Lyric/Poster (Ex-) Very little ageing at all. A few creases and a couple sub-1c.m. splits.
