Description
Own a genuine piece of Beatles history. This is an original 1968 UK mono first pressing of the legendary White Album, complete with all four -1 matrix cuts and an exceptionally low number: 0008299 — pressed in the earliest batch when these albums were still being hand‑assembled at EMI. The vinyl, sleeve, portraits and poster are all present, giving you a complete and authentic first‑issue package. Low‑number mono copies almost never surface in this condition, making this a rare opportunity for collectors who value true first‑press provenance and early production significance.
Condition
-
Vinyl: Very Good (VG) – visually excellent with only light surface marks; plays cleanly with minimal noise.
-
Sleeve: Used / VG for age – embossed “The BEATLES” text, top‑loading numbered sleeve, light wear consistent with age.
-
Poster: Used – original and complete, with minor edge tears and fold marks.
-
Portraits: Excellent – all four original photos present and crisp.
Grading Note: I grade conservatively. In my opinion the overall condition may be better than stated, but I prefer buyers to be pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed.
Serial Number
Low number 0008299, stamped in dark grey ink — part of the earliest UK production run. These low‑number copies are highly sought after by collectors.
Auction Note
This listing begins as a 7‑day auction with a confident starting price of £499. If early interest is strong, I may extend or relist the auction in a longer 10‑day format to give collectors more time to view and participate. This ensures the fairest chance for serious bidders and the best visibility for this rare low‑number mono first pressing.
Seller’s Note
This album is part of a personal collection which has been in a record box for the last 20 or so years. I've not cleaned the vinyl so photos may show some dust etc.
More Beatles and classic records will be listed soon — keep an eye on my listings.
