Flaws, There is wear to all corners, there is some sharpie marks on the right hand side and some of the members have mustaches drawn on them. The vinyl has some scuffs and scratches. Please examine photos carefully before purchasing. All items are sold as is with no refunds.
When the Beatles' latest album 'Yesterday And Today' was cobbled together by Capitol as a sort of stop-gap catch-up album with the British releases, who would have guessed it would wind up as their most notorious release?
The original cover photo was taken on March 25, 1966 and had the lads dressed in butcher's coats, with bits of raw meat and dismembered dolls strewn about them. The Salvador Dali like photo was a lightning rod of an image that immediately drew fire from critics, retailers and even before it hit stores on June 15th they decided to withdraw it and sent a note out to everyone who had one ready to sell to return them, so they could repackage / replace. Capitol Records, who never had much of a spine when it came to controversy anyway, designed a new jacket, this one with the buys in a travel trunk. Fitting in between the releases ‘Rubber Soul’ and ‘Revolver’ the jacket was looked slapdash at best.
When the records returned to various Capitol distribution plants, and had the record removed from the jackets. Some Brainiac came up with the notion that Capitol would save 10¢ a jacket if a new slick was pasted over the old instead of using a whole new jacket. Considering the size of the first pressing, that could save Capitol some serious money. Many of the plants simply destroyed the jackets and waited for replacements, but others followed through with the paste-over, especially in Scranton and Los Angeles.
THIS JACKET has been covered over by Capitol and astonishingly enough, has never had anyone curios enough to actually try to remove the paste-over cover. As expected, you can see that tell tale dark of Ringo’s shirt under the lab coat there under ‘Today’ on the right hand side. And the you can see in the 3rd photo where the paste over doesn't align together
