Description

The Beatles - related promo 45 on Vee-Jay records. The Dells - Shy Guy/What Do We Prove, VJ 595. This rare VJ promo is pictured in Bruce Spizer's landmark book, Songs,  Pictures  and  Stories  of  the  Fabulous  Beatles  Records  on  Vee-Jay. Both this sleeve and The Beatles rares Ask Me Why sleeve proclaim that VJ is "only #8 in record sales"

The   title   sleeves   for   Vee-Jay’s   promotional   records   released   during   June   of   1964  utilized  an ad campaign that was used on the rare Beatles Ask Me Why promo.  The  promotional  sleeve  for  VJ  595,  Shy  Guy  by  the   Dells,  cleverly  proclaimed  “We’re  only  #8  in  record  sales  ...  If  we  really  knew  it  all   we’d  be  #1.”    The  sleeve  further  stated  “But  as  we  said  we’re  only  #8  trying  for  the  big   #7  —  can’t  condemn  us  for  that!”

This song by The Dells did not perform well and this promo is scarce in any condition.  The sleeve is in VG condition a small split on the right side. There is a date stamp on the front - "May 27 1964".  The vinyl is in a beautiful VG+++/NM condition! The labels are NM with no writing, stickers or stains! A wonderful opportunity to get a rare VJ promo sleeve and 45 that was used in the same campaign as The Beatles promotion efforts!
Please ask any questions you like. I want you to be satisfied.
