Prayers on Fire is the debut studio album by Australian rock group The Birthday Party, which was released on 6 April 1981 on the Missing Link label in Australia, later licensed to the 4AD label.
The Birthday Party were an Australian post-punk band fronted by Nick Cave, active from 1978 to 1983. The group's "bleak and noisy soundscapes," drew irreverently on blues, free jazz, and rockabilly.
As a LP, Prayers on Fire is an expression which ebbs out beyond the confines of proficiently played music. It showed that the Birthday Party had irrevocably and unashamedly changed for the better, being more aggressive than anything they had ever recorded.
This is the original UK release dated 1981, on 4.A.D. It comes with the orginal picture sleeve.
