Condition/Description:

Very rare 3 LP set which chronicles The Beatles’ final recording sessions for the “Let It Be” album.  Containing a healthy and generous mix of alternate versions, practice sessions, dialogue which didn’t appear in the film, and some inspired and clever jamming, this was the absolute best fidelity of these tapes.  Many generic bootlegs were copied from this album over the years, thus decreasing the sound quality from at least two generations’ removal from the original source.  This was the first generation from the source tapes.

Includes such gems as their version of “House of the Rising Sun,” which originally  began as a practice of George’s “I Me Mine” on this take.  Very light-hearted, silly, and downright funny. But far more interesting is the arpeggioed guitar that John is playing.  Astute Beatles fans will recognize this exact progression as the opening sequence for his “I Want You (She’s So Heavy).”

 Also included are Paul’s unreleased “Commonwealth” and John’s “Suzy Parker.”  Both of these pieces are inspired and funny.  A few seconds of footage of the recording of “Suzy Parker” made the final cut in the “Let It Be” film, but this is that take of the song in its entirety.  Other highlights include George’s solo acoustic Dylan medley, “I Threw It All Away/ Mama You’ve Been On My Mind” which is nothing short of gorgeous Harrison Unplugged, and The Beatles as a band rehearsing George’s “All Things Must Pass.”

The album also contains the poster, which is an alternate mock-up of the poster issued with the White Album.  The reverse of the poster reproduces 24 pages of the book which was issued with the rare British “Let It Be” box from 1970.  For those who have never seen this book, there are pages of dialogue, most of which was cut from the film.  The dialogue mainly consists of funny banter between the group as well as discussions of the band falling apart.

All six sides are in very nice condition, although side two has one scuff which does not affect play at all.  Side four has a visiblemanufacturer’s defect in the vinyl on the first track which is quietly audible for most of the track, but does not pop or skip.  Sort of a quiet whoosh on every rotation.  Other than those two exceptions, all three discs are near mint.

As the cover is a double pocket which houses three LP’s, there is some creasing to the inside gatefold.  Also, the top left and top right corners are slightly pushed, the left being a little more serious.  The cover inside and out retains very high gloss and little to no signs of ringwear.  The poster is flat and mint.
