Vintage Carter Family – Sweet Fern / Lulu Wall 78 RPM Shellac Record

Found during the restoration of a 1940s farmhouse, this vintage 78 RPM shellac record from the legendary Carter Family is a true find for collectors. Here are the details:

  • Artist: The Carter Family
  • Label: Victor Talking Machine Co.
  • A-Side: Sweet Fern
  • B-Side: Lulu Wall
  • Matrix Number: V40126A
  • Record Size: 10"
  • Speed: 78 RPM
  • Material: Shellac
  • Condition: VG (Very Good) – Visually inspected, some scuffs and scratches, no major damage.
  • Special Feature: "VE" stamp indicating electrical recording.

Condition Description:

This record has not been tested and is sold "as found." It was found during the restoration of a 1940's farmhouse. I am not a record expert, but I have done my best to describe the condition. Feel free to ask any questions or request additional photos before purchasing.

VG (Very Good) – Visually inspected and graded as VG. The record shows scuffs and smudges with some scratches, particularly a larger scratch on the A-side ("Sweet Fern"). There are no chips, gouges, or cracks. The inlay is in excellent condition, featuring "Victor Talking Machine Co." at the bottom and the "VE" stamp for electrical recording at the top. 

No original sleeve, but will be shipped in an acid-free sleeve and packed securely between cardboard.
