Description
Up for Auction is an excellent MONO copy of the LP- "He's a Rebel" by United States Female Blues/Soul/Funk singers, "The Crystals", a first UK pressing, circa 1963, with the "Flipback" sleeve and "deep groove" London Plum labels in NEAR MINT condition as far as the actual record goes.
The record appears to have never been played or ever handled, it is bright, shiny, clean and pristine without any signs of wear or damage whatsoever, it is in as new, NEAR MINT condition.
The record labels on both sides are crisp. bright, clean and undamaged in NEAR MINT condition with no sign of spindle wear or damage. The inner, paper, printed record sleeve is in NEAR MINT condition
The album jacket has a bit of age yellowing on the front, right rear near the record entrance and a little brown stain on the bottom, right, front of the jacket measuring 4 mm x 10 mm.
The laminate has come away from being glued to the face of the jacket along the spine by about two centimetres but it is hardly noticeable.
The laminate along the jacket edges on the reverse have also discoloured, just with age but only slightly, this is to be expected and cannot be prevented. There is a light stain on the bottom, left hand side, rear of the jacket, just where the guest soloists are listed. (Please see photos).
If you need more photos then feel free to ask as I have them on file and am limited to only 12 with the listing.
The record is graded NEAR MINT The Sleeve is graded VERY GOOD (see photos) The Labels are graded NEAR MINT (see photos) The audio on both sides is graded NEAR MINT The inner, paper record sleeve is graded NEAR MINT (see photos)
The very interesting thing to note is that the record company on this album was Philles Records, owned by none other than the infamous and notorious music producer and promoter, Phil Spectre who produced a lot of the Beatles albums and invented the famous style of producing rock soul/pop music, known as the "Wall of Sound" in his sound recording studio.
He was also responsible for producing that legendary rock anthem by Tina Turner, "Nutbush City Limits". Spectre is now serving life in a maximum security jail for taking one of his female dates home and putting a hand gun in her mouth and shooting her dead.
You will notice that on the bottom right of the rear of the jacket is a dedication by Phil Spectre which is signed by him.
This album has sold several times for $500 Aus. plus in this condition in 2015. It is extremely rare. They are becoming harder and harder to find and more and more sought after and valuable as each year passes.
It is very rare to find them in this good a condition as the record is nearly sixty years old.
Please note that my photos form part of the description.
