Description
Upon its release in July of 1969, The Doors' 'Soft Parade' (EKS-75005) was received with lukewarm reviews. One thing that was NOT in dispute was the sound of the album. Clear, clean, and bold. More money went into this album than any other the Doors ever made. In the U.S. most copies of 'The Soft Parade' came with the new Elektra Records red label design. However, on the East Coast, several thousand were pressed still using the previous Gold label design. This listing is offering one of those elusive and limited pressings.
Gatefold Cover: Strong VG.....some normal age-related wear to the edges and corners and some scattered rubbing marks. Colors are deep and bold. The spine is still firm with some of the printed text rubbed away but still mostly legible. Inner gatefold is Excellent...very clean and bright with no split in the middle. Made with solid and thick card stock.
Inner-Sleeve: VG+ ......some age discoloration....small splits to all three sides. No stains or writing. A very presentable original Soft Parade inner-sleeve.
Record: Excellent(minus)....one of the nicest examples of this Gold label pressing I've ever come across. Both labels are nearly flawless. Under strong light, both sides of the thick and heavy record show some hairlines and marks....but the vast majority have no effect on the audio. There were a few sporadic moments of surface noise and ticks but never did it detract from the sensational and stunning 1st press audio. A very enjoyable and memorable listening experience.
