Insanely rare uncensored Mono mix pressing of The Doors’ first album released by Elektra Records in January, 1967. Only a small number of these Mono copies were sold before this track was censored and the uncensored version doesn’t exist in Stereo. This uncensored copy contains Jim Morrison’s series of “F**k”s in the second half of “The End” track. Very early 1st print Monarch Los Angeles gold / tan Elektra Records labels with a 2⅞” pressing ring, bold typeface and a misprint indicating "The Other Side" as "The Oher Side" along with featuring the 1st print "(Weill-Brecht) Witmark (ASCAP)" publishing credit for Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar) on Side 1 (The labels of the later pressings contains “Harms Co.” instead of “Witmark”). The labels have the bold "Mono" banner which is present only on the Monarch pressing. The Stereo cover remains in the original factory shrink wrap with breathe holes and contains an ultra rare rectangular orange-red "MONO" sticker affixed above the Stereo catalog number in the lower right-hand corner underneath the shrink wrap. 1st Monarch, LA plant pressing having all of the plant's identifiers and containing a machine stamped “MR in Circle” along with a Delta number in the runout groove. Also, the vinyl was mastered by Ray Hagerty and contains his initials. The full matrix numbers are as follows: Side 1 - EKL-4007A (MON) MR in Circle Δ10046 Ray Hagerty's Signature / Side 2 - EKL-4007B (MON) MR in Circle Δ10046-X Ray Hagerty's Signature. The release of The Doors coincided with the change in the Elektra Records office's address. Very early 1st pressings of this album were equipped with an inner sleeve containing Elektra's old "51 West 51st Street" address in New York, before the company changed it to the new "1855 Broadway" address. This copy comes with an inner sleeve containing Elektra's old address. The change involved not only the company's address in New York but also the one in London, UK. The new inner sleeves read "2 Dean Street" while the old ones had the "7 Poland Street" address as seen on the inner sleeve of this copy.

The beautiful cover and extremely rare "7, Poland Street" inner sleeve are in Near Mint condition. The vinyl is Very Good Plus. It retains its shiny factory gloss but has some light hairlines, marks and scuffs from the inner sleeve. The labels are in Near Mint Minus condition, very clean and scuff-free, only having a couple of very light spindle marks seen under a strong light source. The Side A label has a light factory defect in the form of a small half an inch "bubble". The vinyl plays well throughout, having some light background noise and a series of light pops in a couple of places, which is most likely just static that could get reduced or go away if the record is professionally cleaned with a VPI cleaning machine.
