In my opinion this is Gary's best album. From his sensitive arranging to the wonderful solos of not only himself but of Willie Dennis on trombone and Richie Kamuka on reeds as well. I especially love "Pecos Pete". Just before moving on to Verve, this wonderful album happened in 1963. It's a sextet album and superb. And any album that has the musical taste to include Mark Lawrence's beautiful theme from the film David and Lisa is a must-have, and it's my favorite track on this album.
