Description
Quite Lovely and Amazing Condition. The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien. 4 record set. Excellent Condition with book. Narrated by Nicol Williamson. Please see all 12 photos. The box is in excellent condition - vibrant colors (sturdy, no cuts, no cracks, no damage) just original owner's contact info inside inner box cover. Otherwise pristine. Made in England noted on back of box. Front of box also states: ARGO A Demetriou Production. The original 7 page booklet "The Hobbit" is also in pristine condition. It has the previous owner's stamp on it "Scooter" - Page 2 of the booklet has the Synopsis of the 8 sides of the records. For example: Record One - Side One states: "An unexpected party in which we are introduced to a Hobbit - one Bilbo Baggins, whose quiet uneventful life is invaded by a magician and thirteen Dwarfs." etc. etc. Side four states: "Out of the Frying Pan. The heroes, having escaped the Goblins, are trapped by the wild wolves, and rescued from a fiery fate." etc. etc. Page 7 of the booklet gives a little background of Nicol Williamson. The back of the booklet states: "1974 The Decca Record Company Limited, London. (Argo Division). Printed in England" etc. There is also a xerox copied handwritten enclosure (one page) on lined paper measuring 8-1/2" x 11" that reads: "We were having trouble with the Hobit (sic). They were putting the wrong records in so we opened all of these. Even though they were opened they are new and were never played. If you should find a defective one bring it back and we will exchange it. Thank you. The Managerment" (sic). I do not know where this record set was purchased but I purchased it from a garage sale and the original owner who cherished it. I have inspected all 8 sides of the four records and they are all there and in excellent condition. Each record's label is in excellent condition and states Argo Record Co. Sterophonic 1974. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien - A Dramatic Narration by Nicol Williamson. The original circular clear cellophane is in tact and in perfect condition on each of the four record jackets which protects the record label. Each is in its own record sleeve as seen in the photos stating 10-74 Made in England. and stating: "The Equipment: The turntable should be perfectly level, should show no up and down movement when rotating and should run at a constant speed of 33-1/3 rpm. Each sleeve is also stamped with the original owner's nick name: "Scooter". You will LOVE this set !
