Description
On auction is a boxed set of "The Hobbit", written by J.R.R.Tolkien. It is a set of 4 x 12" vinyl long-playing records and a set of notes about the production, in a box that bears a picture "the barrel-rider" escape drawn by Tolkien.
The set is the 1974 Demetriou production on the Argo/Decca label (ZPL 1196/9). It is narrated in splendid style by Nicol Williamson, who worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He uses different voices and accents for the various characters to great effect. All told, there is over 3 and a half hours of soundtrack. If you are a fan of The Hobbit, you should love this, if only to listen to, copy and sell on. I bought this copy new in 1975, when it first reached our local record shop and it has been lovingly looked after.
All items are timed to finish on a weekend. PayPal is the preferred method of payment, although cash on collection is also an option if you live close. If PayPal payment is made before 8.00 pm on Sunday, I guarantee to get the item in the post on Monday.
This will be mailed out using Royal Mail Standard Parcel service. Royal Mail aim to deliver it within 3 to 5 days. Royal Mail Special Delivery is also available, which is guaranteed delivery prior to 1.00 pm on the following weekday. The item is not available outside UK due to postal costs.
If you do not think you will be in, it is worth arranging for a neighbour to take it in, leaving a note on your letterbox for the postie. It works well here, and avoids the trip to the local delivery office to collect the package if you were not in.
