The Jimi Hendrix Experience Electric Ladyland 1968 Vinyl Mint UK Cover art.


Named after The Electric Lady Land Recording Studio in Greenwich Village, NYC, this iconic masterpiece double album was the last studio album released before his untimely death. Many guest musicians contributed to this album. Some of the recording sessions were party scenes and jam sessions after the bars had closed down.


The Cover, Media, and inner sleeves are all VG++ to NM. I rarely grade things NM but this is one of those times. As you can see from the photos, the gloss from the original lacquer shines like a mirror. No skips and hardly any crackle or pop.


Only released in the UK, First Issue only, Jimi Hendrix not only didn’t approve this cover but was completely unaware they chose this rare cover. The photographer did a horrible job with the uneven lighting. The black backdrop and the lighting is very uneven and unflattering creating dark circles and bags under many of the model’s eyes. It is really just distasteful and no wonder so few were made and quickly replaced with the live headshot from the Monterey Pop Festival. It is said that the professional models were only paid £5 to £10 each for the shoot.


The Sound:

The mix of this 1st Pressing in UK on red Polydor Record label is what makes this version so valuable. It is a high volume Hot mix that has lots of beautiful highs and good guitar and tons of bass.
