Description
The Kinks - Arthur or the decline and fall of the British Empire Reprise RS-6366 2 tone Reprise label, NM lyric inner "pull-out" and Near Mint vinyl
Stamper codes: Side 1: RS6366 A-1H Side 2: RS6366 B-1K
Condition: The jacket itself I am grading as EX+. I am tempted to list the jacket as NM primarily because it is in such fantastic condition considering its age. There is almost no ring wear and very few blemishes (the ring wear only being visible on the white background of the jacket rear). There is some rubbing to the jacket corners and top but that's about the extent of it. The original 2-tone Reprise labels are NM- with very little indication of wear, and none of the obvious spindle marking you might expect for a record of this age. Best of all this includes the original (and often lost or damaged) pull-out Victoria lyric inner. Few of these lyric inners seem to have survived the years intact. The vinyl is a delightful NM both visually and sonically and plays back with sharp, clear tones. I play graded it this morning and to be honest could not find any sonic artifacts (surface noise, pops, clicks, crackle) that detracted from the listening experience...it was really a joy to listen to in such wonderful condition. I rate this LP as one of the finest by The Kinks (along with Village Green, Muswell Hillbillies and Something Else - of course, all very subjective when talking about the "best" Kinks record but Arthur is right up there). Original owner, carefully stored and played. Scant chance of disappointment.
