Description

An original 1966 stereo 1st of 'BIG HITS' on the UK Decca label. Matrix 4W/4W. Stampers 1H/1H - placing it amongst the first few thousand copies on this matrix. Do bear in mind that at 1st pressing for this title mono was still very much the predominant format. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Stereo gatefold cover - not a peephole version like the later copies. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. 
Vinyl (Ex) In great condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very faint marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Do bear in mind that so so many of these greatest hits LPs have been played to death over the years. Finding a little abused copy is not all that easy.... But when you find a sweet copy boy do they sound good. The test tracks 'Lady Jane' & 'As Tears Go By' ... and they play clean. In fact it plays clean throughout - even into the perennially played to death 'Satisfaction'. . Interference is very minimal and infrequent indeed. You won't pick out more than a few minor crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex-) In impressive condition with a lovely shiny deep black cover. No laminate lift and barely a crease - just a minuscule one down on the bottom right corner. The rear is almost as good with just a couple of creases in the bottom left corner. The interior looks great  with little wear or fading/ All pages are still stapled in fine and intact - no signs of heavy thumbing. There's a bit of edge wear in places, but nothing significant. The spine is 100% intact - a beauty. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A beautiful specimen for sure.
Inner (Ex) Lightest ageing. No splits.
