Description

An original 1st pressing of the Stones second album on Decca records from 1965. Matrix 1A/2A. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original cover printed by James Upton. The sleeve is noteworthy for being the 1st issue with the offensive 'Blind Man' text on the rear. At release it caused controversy and Decca were forced to change the wording and do a paste-over job on the rear to hide it. The text is only visible on the 1st issue.
Vinyl (Ex) In very nice shape indeed and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a few very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Interference is minimal and only fleeting. We detected a touch of static in a couple of tracks on side 2, but nothing remotely invasive. These early Decca copies sound fantastic and they really are the only true way to do these Stones classics proper justice...
Cover (Vg+) These covers certainly weren't designed for longevity and as a result tend to turn up in a rather beleaguered state. This copy fares much better than most. The front is nice and shiny with very little laminate lift or excessive creasing. The rear seems to have escaped the worst of the fading that so often afflicts these covers. Edge wear is reasonably light and the text on the spine is all still visible. Overall the the cover maintains a decent level of rigidity.
